Will the plasma lighters make a high-pitched sound?
No. Throughout our production runs of the original Sparkr and Sparkr mini, we’ve fine-tuned the frequency of the plasma lighters to avoid the high-pitched ringing sound.

Will the material surrounding the electrodes melt?
While the material around the electrodes may discolor over time, it will not melt unless held in a flame for an extended period of time (i.e. while these are meant to light fires, they aren’t meant to be roasted like marshmallows).

When will we receive the backer survey?
We’ll be sending out our backer survey within a few weeks of the end of the campaign! At that time, you’ll tell us your address, which of your units are Flips, which are Wicks, and add-on any additional items. Non-US Backers: please note that additional international shipping charges will apply for each add-on item.

You’ll select how many of the Sparkrs in your multipack are Flips and/or Wicks when you fill out our backer survey which we’ll email to you shortly after the campaign ends.

Do these products come with a warranty?

What are the Sparkr Flip & Sparkr Wick’s safety features?
The Sparkr Flip’s button must be first pressed down and locked to expose the electrodes, then pressed and held down again to light. To use it upside down, you may press down and lock the button, then flip it over and press down the bottom lighter button (which is inverted slightly to avoid accidental sparking).
The Sparkr Wick requires 3 clicks then a click and hold to light (the same as the original Sparkr flashlight & lighter’s button). The lighter will only activate as long as you are pressing and holding down the button.

Why is International Shipping so expensive?

If you’re in Canada or the EU, we’ll be shipping from within your country and we will be paying all the taxes and customs fees associated with your order. You will not be hit with any additional fees upon receiving your product.

If you’re located outside of the U.S., Canada or EU, we’re not shipping from within your country which results in us having to use expensive means of shipping due to these products having lithium batteries inside.

Will the plasma lighter shock me like a taser?
The plasma lighters won’t have the same sort of shock as a taser if it touches the skin, but it will cause a concentrated and painful burn. If you stick a metal object between the electrodes, however, you will feel a shock.

As outlined in our campaign timeline, production will take about 30-45 days. We promised shipping by October, and we’ll do everything in our power to make that happen. Again, the critical piece to getting this moving quickly is getting those surveys completed! While production is happening, we plan to keep everyone up to date on every step of the process, and will fill you in on some of the interesting aspects of the manufacturing process.

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
